Humming, jammed, leaking, or just plain worn out? We get your disposal working again or install a new one.
A garbage disposal gets used every day, and when it stops working, the kitchen sink backs up fast. MC 1 Plumbing repairs and installs garbage disposals throughout Greater San Antonio, from clearing a jam to replacing a unit that's reached the end of its life.
Common problems include a disposal that hums but won't spin, one that won't turn on at all, leaks from the bottom or the drain connection, slow draining, and grinding noises. Some of these are quick fixes. Others, like a leak from the body of the unit, usually mean it's time for a replacement.
When we install a new disposal, we connect it properly to the sink and drain, and to the dishwasher if you have one, so everything drains the way it should. Every job is backed by a licensed Texas Responsible Master Plumber (RMP M-43246) with 30 years of experience.

Many disposal problems start with what goes into them. Grease hardens in the drain line, fibrous foods like celery and onion skins wrap around the grinding parts, and coffee grounds and eggshells can build up in the pipes. Running cold water and feeding food in gradually helps a disposal last.
A leak from the bottom of the unit usually means the internal seals have failed, and replacement is typically the right fix. Leaks at the top or side are often at the sink flange or drain connection, which can usually be repaired.
If your sink drains slowly even when the disposal runs, the clog may be further down the line. Our drain cleaning service can clear it.
Every disposal job covers the unit and its connections.
Usually something is jammed in the grinding chamber. Turn it off and don't put your hand inside. We can clear it safely and check for damage.
